Augmented Eleventh Intervals

An augmented eleventh interval is the distance from any note to a note eighteen half-steps away either ascending or descending. Another definition is a perfect octave plus an augmented fourth. It is a dissonant interval.

Playing augmented elevenths on the guitar requires using the pick to strike the low note and the second finger to strike the high note. Strike the low note with a downward motion and strike the high note with an upward motion, as if you are trying to pinch the strings.
