Minor Tenth Intervals

A minor tenth interval has one less half-step than a major tenth. That is, a minor tenth is the distance from any note to a note fifteen half-steps away either ascending or descending. Another definition is an perfect octave plus a minor third. It is a consonant interval.

Playing major tenths on the guitar requires using the pick to strike the low note and the second finger to strike the high note. Strike the low note with a downward motion and strike the high note with an upward motion, as if you are trying to pinch the strings.

Be sure your guitar is in tune before playing the following examples.
