Major Ninth Intervals
A major ninth interval is the distance from any note to a note fourteen half-steps away either ascending or descending. Another definition is an perfect octave plus a major second. It is a dissonant interval.
Playing major ninths on the guitar requires using the pick to strike the low note and the second finger to strike the high note. Strike the low note with a downward motion and strike the high note with an upward motion, as if you are trying to pinch the strings.

A major ninth above A is B an octave above A.

Bb (A#) Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above Bb is C an octave above Bb.
A major ninth above A# is B# an octave above A#. Notice that B# is actually a C note. However, a C an octave above A# is a major tenth interval. Therefore, to indicate this is a major ninth a B# us used.

B Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above B is C# an octave above B.
Note: Cb is a B. A major ninth above Cb is Db an octave above Cb.

C Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above C is D an octave above C.
Note: B# is a C. A major ninth above B# is Cx (C double sharp) an octave above B#.

Db (C#) Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above Db is Eb an octave above Db.
A major ninth above C# is D# an octave above C#.

D Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above D is E an octave above D.

Eb (D#) Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above Eb is F an octave above Eb.
A major ninth above D# is E# an octave above D#. Notice that E# is actually an F note. However, an F above D# is a diminished minor tenth. Therefore, to indicate this is a major ninth interval an E# is used.

E Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above E is F# an octave above E.
Note: Fb is an E. A major ninth above Fb is Gb an octave higher.

F Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above F is G an octave above F.
Note: E# is an F. A major ninth above E# is Fx (F double sharp) an octave higher.

F# (Gb) Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above F# is G# an octave above F#.
A major ninth above Gb is Ab an octave above Gb.

G Major Ninth Interval on the Guitar
A major ninth above G is A an octave above G.

A major ninth above G# is A# an octave above G#.
